

DECAFEINATION
Decafeinated Coffee / Decaf Coffee
Decaffeinated coffee or " Decaf " is coffee that has most of the caffeine remove.
By weight, the amount of caffeine found naturlly in coffee is only 1% for the Arabica and 2% for the Robusta beans.
When you red " 975 Caffeine free ", 975 of that 1% or 2% has been removed.
In the case of coffee, various methods can be used.the process is ussualy performed on unroasted ( green ) beans and start with steaming of the beans.
There are currently two methods used commercially that removed caffeine from coffee:
* EUROPEAN PROCESS / DIRECT CONTACT DECAF
Use Methylene Chloride and water.
this method is 100% safe and is one of the best decaffeination methods that will retain
much of the flavor of coffee.
* SWISS WATER PROCESS
This process uses no chemicals, but rather hot water and steam to removed caffeine from
coffee. the disadvantage is that the water processing removes more than just caffeine.
some of the oils from coffee bean are removed as well, making it less flavorfull.
FRESHNESS AND STORAGE :
To ensure rice, fresh tasting coffee, buy whole beans frequently. Air light, heat and moisture
are coffee's adversaries. store coffee in airtight container in a cool, dry place to protect and aroma.
